Basic load planning

Five checks before commitment.

  1. 1
    Confirm the truck

Equipment, location, available hours, preferred lanes, and home-time needs.

  2. 2
    Qualify the load

Broker identity, commodity, weight, appointments, rate, payment terms, and special requirements.

  3. 3
    Count every mile

Include deadhead and repositioning when comparing the real rate per mile.

  4. 4
    Protect the schedule

Check lawful Hours-of-Service feasibility, traffic, weather, parking, and appointment risk.

  5. 5
    Document the facts

Keep the rate confirmation, BOL, POD, time stamps, receipts, and relevant messages organized.
